#1 Fun Son

Virgin Mary & Baby Jesus Funyun in a pretzel manger went for: $600 on ebay. Holy mother of christ!

That really brings back memories from when I was a kid and me and a friend went and stole a baby jesus from someone's manger scene at Christmas time. Smite me now!

We decided that we wanted to bring Jesus back to his pagan roots (seeing as Christmas is copped from the Saturnine celebration of the Winter Solstice) so we put him up in our favorite tree and lit some fireworks we had for New Years from between his legs. OH, the blasphemy. But it just felt right.

Later we amused ourselves thinking about the people who would first discover the baby jesus we left in the tree. If devout, would they see it as a miracle? No. They probably would have done dna testing on him if they could have in the 70's.

It was always my wish to leave the babe at the base of that banyan tree and write 'Future Buddha' on his swaddling clothes. That would have been sooo gangsta.

East Of the Sun

Great National Geographic multimedia here. The visuals alone are fantastic. It may be time for me to subscribe to National Geographic again. I definitley have a love affair with all things Eastern.
Maybe because of a past-life thing.
Maybe because I sense they are ahead of us on the karmic wheel.
Maybe it's an unconscious yet deliberate influence from all of the things we own that are Made in China.
Or maybe it's the meditation factor, which helps to keep the paranoia at bay.

2005 Discoveries

Everyone gets busy with the shopping cart (virtual or not) this time of year. I do a little of that, but I get so much more out of reflecting on what effected me, changed me, helped me grow or just entertained me the most during the past year.

Let it Be, Let it Be, Let it Be

I recently found the best green tea--both for its flavor and health benefits. It's the only tea I've tried where I can actually feel a change in my body & mind for long periods after drinking it. Usually, I'm affected as I drink tea--in a real state of being in the moment--but the above Triple Echinacea blend really stays with me. Every cell in my system just seems to open up its little eyes and come alive. And no--that's not the caffeine.

Maia and I first tried it when we felt a cold coming on, and we were better 24hours and 3 or 4 cups later. It doesn't even need a sweetener, the flavor is a sublime green tea tinged with orange/tangerine and it's mostly organic. I totally attest to its immune boost capabilities. Can't recommend it highly enough.

As everything speeds up to a screeching halt while we all careen through the holi-daze toward the end of the year, this is the kind of sanity boost I know at least I need.

Like, for instance, the next time I'm forced to listen to an endless stream of Christmas music at work.
