Spirtual Safety Tips with Lamuel!

From Objective Ministries Website:

Hello! My name is Lambuel and I hope that we can be friends. I would like to share with you my love for Jesus. Did you know that Jesus loves each and every one of us? It's true! In the Bible, He says: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life"... Isn't that COOL?!

My OBJECTIVE is JUST 4 KIDZ! The "z" is for "zealousness," 'cause Jesus wants us to be hot for Him, not lukewarm. I read in the Bible that He said: "As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent"... Let's do that!

There is no Spoon

  • This is the kind of thing that goes on in my kitchen Thanksgiving morning. Maia is going for the Guiness World Record in spoon balancing. I know--it looks more like some strange tribal initiation ritual.

  • Conversation with a sister-in-law at the after stuffing party:

D: We ran a marathon in D.C. this year. It started at the Pentagon and ended at Arlington National Cemetery.

Me: Well, that makes sense.

D: Yes it does!

  • Bliss and I invent a new name for the soft drink Mountain Dew:

Pray for War

I think the time has come to change the names of the major political parties.

'Puppet on the Right' and 'Puppet on the Left' would be good and true, but I'm not a Libertarian or Independent because no matter how corrupt the system is, you can't change it on the sidelines bitching about the game.

No, I propose we call them the Democrats and the Theocrats.
What is a Theocrat? It comes from theocracy, which is the direction the right is taking this country.

Theocracy is derived from the two Greek words Qeo/j(Theos) meaning "God" and kra/tein (cratein) meaning "to rule." The Reverend Rod Parsley, a champion of theocracy, or what he calls a "christocracy," told his congregation at the World Harvest Church, located just outside Columbus, Ohio, "Theocracy means God is in
control, and you are not."

Today's hard right seeks total dominion. It's packing the courts and rigging the rules. The target is not the Democrats but democracy itself.

According to acclaimed journalist and television host Bill Moyers,

"True, people of faith have always tried to bring their interpretation of the
Bible to bear on American laws and morals ... it's the American way, encouraged
and protected by the First Amendment. But what is unique today is that the
radical religious right has succeeded in taking over one of America's great
political parties. The country is not yet a theocracy but the Republican Party
is, and they are driving American politics, using God as a a battering ram on
almost every issue: crime and punishment, foreign policy, health care, taxation,
energy, regulation, social services and so on."

It's times like these that make me want to catch a Mayflower to the moon if I have to so that I can live somewhere where I will be free to choose in every way: how to worship, who to love, whether to have a child or not, you name it. Because the stronger the theocracy, the less choice. That's what dominion means. That's why they pray for war and hang on to us staying in Iraq indefinitely. Dominion. Control. It doesn't even matter what the reasons are to be there. Any reason is fine, as long as it furthers their agenda.

I sometimes think these people must have missed a step on the evolutionary ladder. Is that why they have trouble with Darwin? Because evolution doesn't apply to them?

Suppose that's another post.

Goldsworthy

Click on the portal to be taken to a website of inspired, soulful art by Andy Goldsworthy. Saw the documentary Rivers and Tides this evening and am totally amazed. The magic of his art is in working directly with nature and connecting right down to its very fabric and soul. All art is arguably about connection with the natural world--Goldsworthy doesn't mess around. He uses the medium as his message, and the results are sublimely mind-blowing.

Here's just one observation. Most of what he creates is circular in some form, while working on land--the circle does dominate, when working near water--more of a serpentine form emerges. In either case, there is an organic roundedness that reflects the natural world as opposed to the angular, straight lines of man-made constructions.

Ever looked out an airplane and seen the 'grid' as created by man? Human anthills aren't mounds, they're rectangular slabs. Then did you notice that everything (at least from the aerial perspective) that has been untouched by man has a flowing, circular nature?

In any case, here's the bloggers' version 2.0:

Dr. K

A friend of mine ran into my old English professor, Dr. Kennedy, over the weekend:

S: Dr. Kennedy just started up a Young Adult's Writing Course at the library. His first class was Wednesday. He was kind of disappointed at the turn-out. There were no young adults and 5 senior citizens.

Me: Sounds like they don't know how to read.

S: It's sad when you can't let go of your youth.

Virgo Rising

Time to stroll in a gallery. Sip tea and read a good book. To design something...a t-shirt, my yard, my home. Time to do that psychedelic art project involving candles, help my son learn the guitar, and watch a sunrise with a friend. That's what I want to have time for.
In the mean-time, this beautiful gallery will have to do.
