Halloween Costume Suggestion

*see footnote

OK. Here's the idea. For anyone who has been paying attention to this horrendous Republican-lead nightmare--consider using this Halloween as an opportunity for protest against the current powers-that-be. Get yourself an orange jumpsuit or retro prison uniform (white w/ black stripes or vice-versa :-). Choose an indicted republican, or one that should be and make yourself a name tag. Pick a card, any card. Delay, Frist, Libby, Rove, you get the idea.
Topical AND it makes a statement.
Warning: this may be very dangerous depending on what part of the country you live in. If it's anywhere they have ditches, you may end up in one.
Do it anyway!
*I got this picture from a uniform web-site which had dozens of different professional outfits. Did I mention DOZENS? Medical, postal, generic. Not only is this poor model smiling, (!) but he's the only black guy on the entire site.
WTF???????????

As long as we don't get one named Barney

Well, we survived Wilma. Only lost power for 24 hrs. A huge oak tree from our neighbor's yard landed on our fence. The fence won. During clean-up, Bliss discovered a loosened, heavy-duty vine between two palm trees that became an impromtu swing before remembering it was really just a vine and that Bliss was really Tarzan.

Getting a picture of that: Priceless.

Are you Dreaming?

"The idea is to remain in a state of constant departure while always arriving. "

Hermione brought one of my favorite films, Waking Life, to her Theory of Knowledge class. It was a big hit. The movie poses an Eastern Philosophical question: is there really a difference between dreaming and waking life? Because essentially, our thoughts create reality. Everything that exists in time and space was first a thought in someone's mind.

Lucid dreaming is central to the plot as well, something that I did for years and still do occasionally. To dream lucid is to be aware inside the dream that you are dreaming. Then, all sorts of interesting things can happen--namely, whatever you want.

Want to fly? Explore another planet? Have superpower vision? You name it, you do it.

Hermione tells me since her class has seen the film, not a day goes by without someone saying, "I wish I was lucid dreaming right now. Oh, wait. Maybe I am."

Keep dreaming, kid.

New Govt Seal

Official Announcement: The government today announced that it is changing its emblem from an Eagle to a CONDOM because it more accurately reflects the government's political stance. A condom allows for inflation, halts production, destroys the next generation, protects a bunch of pricks, and gives you a sense of security while you're actually being screwed. Damn, it just doesn't get more accurate than that!

Thanks, Den.

Rise Up

This is a picture of a water lily that I took over the weekend at a famous garden locally. These flowers, and their cousin the lotus, have always facinated me. See the 'sun' in the middle of the flower? It looks like the way I used to draw a sun when I was a little girl. How perfect the symmetry that when this lily grows from the water bed, through the muck and the aquatic mire, then rises to the sky, and finally---OPENS-- its center looks exactly like what gives it life.

That's my inspirational thought of the day. Be like the lily.

RISE UP.

Super Profundo on the Early Eve of Your Day

"Myths and legends die hard in America. We love them for the extra dimension they provide, the illusion of near-infinite possibility to erase the narrow confines of most men's reality. Weird heros and mold-breaking champions exist as living proof to those who need it that the tyranny of 'the rat race' is not yet final."

Binary Man

I have seen gorgeous, multi-layered artwork by Alex Grey, showing in technicolor detail what lies underneath our layers of skin--but this? This has a brillance of its own. A techno-human fusion, walking into the future. It's going too fast, if you ask me. Wasn't technology supposed to save us time, not speed everything up? You know, so we have all those extra minutes to watch reality television.

How Hippie, Man?

I am 50% Hippie.
I am so Hippie, Man!
I am not a child of the 60’s but my heart is true to the cause, man. I realize that being a hippie is not just bell bottoms and tie-dye. It is also about the drugs and smelling bad, too!

More Limbs, Please

Some days I move thru my day pretending to have tentacles.
It seems like, from time to time, we all need to be 8-armed goddesses & gods to make our way thru these days.
